So, whats up in Delhi?

In the last few months, I have traveled so much, that I haven’t spent much time at home. And even when I’m here, I was visiting some of the wonderful work Ladies Circle India has been doing in Delhi.

I started with Ladies Circle 89, which is also the circle of our National President (LCI). LC 89 has its long-term project at Astha, which is a center for children with special needs. This not for profit organization, which was set up in 1993, focus’ on various programs. They run a center of children with special needs in Giri Nagar, Delhi. The same center also has an outreach program center. They plan their extensions at their Govindpuri center, while the community rehabilitation program is in the Lalkuan district of Delhi. They also run a program called AARTH, which mean Action, Advocacy, Research and Training in Disability.

LC 89 Moving Ahead!

LC89 has donated a van at a cost of Rs 231,000. This car would benefit 40 children, which are part of the NGO. The funding for this car came through Round Table India Foundation, sponsorships and fundraisers. The circle also comes to celebrate Janamashtmi with the children of Astha. The children at RTBKI school also got water bottles on the independence day. The Ladies Circle also took the children of the RTBKI school to the Pepsi factory, which was followed by a picnic! Great going, girls!

Children at Indraprastha Park

One of a super project that LC89 did in the last year was give a wedding hamper to fifteen newly wed brides. This project came through Guild of India, who organize a mass wedding twice a year. Each time 15-25 couples tie the knot! The Guild also provides also assistance in their marriage and also post marriage care too! Guild of India is spear-headed by Ms.Mohini Girl, daughter of the Past President V.V.Giri. These hampers have cosmetics, toiletries and other day-to-day items.

Starting a new life!

It’s nice to see the variety of projects this circle has done. Some of these are very exciting to witness as well, especially the mass wedding. I can only congratulate LC89 for  a super effort!
